Bujinkan – Divine Warrior School
Bujinkan budo taijutsu is the traditional empty handed combat martial art that is taught my Masaaki Hatsumi, the 34th grandmaster of ninjutsu. It is based in Noda City.
Pilgrims and serious students travel from all parts of the globe to train in the home bujinkan dojo. A Bujinkan dojo can
be found in many parts of the world, but the home Bujinkan dojo is mecca for thousands of students.
Bujinkan ninjutsu is very traditional and the Bujinkan ninjutsu curriculum is set each year by the grandmaster. Each Bujinkan dojo around the world then interprets the curriculum for it’s students. Bujinkan budo taijutsu is just one aspect of bujinkan ninjutsu. I keep referring to Bujinkan ninjutsu, Bujinkan budo taijutsu and a Bujinkan dojo by specific title because Bujinkan taijutsu has it’s own traditional flavor and approach.
The focus is on developing the individual. Manifesting peace and cultivating fudoshin (the immovable heart) is the core essence of bujinkan budo taijutsu philosophy.
A key aspect of the Bujinkan and its budo training is the observation and appreciation of nature and the connectedness of all living things. Taijutsu, at its most fundamental nature is the subtle interaction and flow of energy from one to another and back again.
Bujinkan ninjutsu in a Bujinkan dojo is at the same time traditional and unconventional by many martial arts standards. Although Bujinkan budo taijutsu is holistic and natural, most martial arts effectively use force instead of the natural flow of energy as taught in a Bujinkan dojo.
